Don't clean out the house! Don't get a dumpster and start
pitching items!
I'd be more than happy to come by and look at the estate
before you start going through and give you pointers on what to do. I've done this many times and it gives the
family a better idea of what to do and many times I've been able to put the family at ease with this overwhelming task.
And of course because I got there early I was able to advise them on items to keep. This saved them time because
many of the things they were planning on doing we do as part of our service. More importantly I prevented items worth
money from being thrown in the trash.
Following is a short, incomplete list of items that will sell at estate
sales:
- Half used spices - the old spice containers are very collectible
- Half used bottles of cleaners - like Pledge or Comet
- Old clothing - vintage clothing is a real hot item
- Old linens - vintage linens are really hot right now
- Old books - people love to go through old books, some are rather valuable
- Old calendars - very collectible
- Furniture that needs repair
- Aprons - another vintage item that is hot, hot, hot!
- Unopened packages of food
The best thing to do is leave the house as it is. Don't worry about trying
to clean the house up before we come over, let us do the cleaning for you. Let us come in and determine what is
truly trash and what is valuable. You'll be amazed at what is valuable.
The time to call is NOW! I'll guarantee that if you start throwing items
in the trash you'll end up throwing out something valuable. I've gone through trash at houses after the family
has "cleaned" and found valuable items that I put back into the house to sell. One trash venture gained my client over
$400.00!
